- Arbitrage
- A strategy that exploits differing odds across bookmakers to guarantee a profit regardless of the outcome.
- Asian Handicap
- A handicap given to the underdog that splits the bet into two separate lines, reducing the chance of a draw.
- Bankroll Management
- The practice of setting aside money for betting and deciding how much to wager on each wager.
- Both Teams To Score
- A wager that each side will find the net at least once during the match.
- Cash Out
- A feature allowing you to settle a bet before the event concludes, locking in a profit or limiting a loss.
- Closing Line
- The final odds available just before the match starts; getting a bet at or better than the closing line indicates a good price.
- Double Chance
- A bet that covers two of the three possible outcomes (win/draw, win/lose, draw/lose) in a single wager.
- Draw No Bet
- A market where you pick a team to win, and your stake is refunded if the match ends in a draw.
- Edge
- An advantage you have over the bookmaker’s odds, often derived from superior information or analysis.
- Expected Value
- The average amount you can expect to win or lose per bet if the same situation repeats many times.
- First Goal Scorer
- A prop bet on which player will score the opening goal of the game.
- Half-Time/Full-Time
- A bet that requires predicting both the score at halftime and the final result of the match.
- Juice
- The commission charged by the sportsbook on a bet, usually built into the odds as a small margin.
- Kelly Criterion
- A mathematical formula that calculates the optimal fraction of your bankroll to bet based on your edge.
- Line Movement
- The change in odds or spreads from the time they are posted until the event begins, often driven by betting volume.
- Live Betting
- Placing bets on match outcomes while the game is in progress, with odds that update as the action unfolds.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win the match, with odds expressed as a positive or negative number.
- Odds
- The numerical expression of the likelihood of a specific outcome, indicating how much you can win relative to your stake.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals scored in a match will be more or less than a set figure.
- Parlay
- A single bet that combines multiple selections; all must win for the wager to pay out.
- Prop Bet
- A side wager on specific events within a match, such as a player’s performance or the occurrence of a particular incident.
- Staking Plan
- A systematic approach to determining how much to bet on each wager based on your bankroll and confidence level.
- Unit Size
- A standardized amount of your bankroll used as a baseline for sizing bets, typically expressed as a percentage.
- Value Bet
- A wager where the odds offered are higher than the true probability of the outcome, giving you a positive expected return over time.
